I had the very same reaction! I abandoned the book about half-way in and never went back.

I kept going, but it took me ages – I kept putting it down and then going back to it days later.

I felt the same way. Although the comments on books are worth the time spent on the novel, the plot was dull. After the joy of Parnassus on Wheels, this one was so pedestrian.

I felt the same way. Looks like a case of an author thinking that he could replicate the success of a book that was a one-off. I read it & enjoyed some things in it but it was a disappointment.

I couldn't agree with you more – I loved Parnassus, and had such high hopes for this.. well, I loved the first couple of chapters, and ended up skipping big chunks of the rest. Not my cup of tea at all.
